Nuts, seeds, and grain all have a natural protective mechanism that inhibits the digestion of them. This mechanism is called phytic acid and can be neutralized by sprouting the nut, seed or grain.
When you sprout the nut, the phytic acid is neutralized and then the nut is ready for digestion. So how do you sprout nuts or seeds?
Easy, just get a bowl, about a pound of nuts.
Pour the nuts into the bowl then fill the bowl with water and cover with towel and let it soak overnight for 8 hours.
After 8 hours the nuts become plump and full of water.
Now it is time to drain and rinse
Place the nuts on a cookie sheet and place in the oven @170 degrees for 24 hours.
After 24 hours the nuts will become crunchy now it is time to take them out of the oven and store for snack use.
Seasoning can be added to the nut during the process here are just a few ideas!
Sea salt and lime
Sea salt, lime and chili powder
Honey/maple syrup and Sea salt
Curry powder
Various Seasonings
