Paths in Healing Addresses Pain and Pain Sources. Hand, Wrist, Arm and Elbow Pain.

What is hand, wrist, arm and elbow pain?
Hand, wrist, arm, elbow pain can include any of the following: trigger finger, sprained thumb, jammed finger, sprained finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, wrist sprains, wrist pains, forearm pain, bicep tendinitis, and bursitis. The dysfunctions listed can be from repetitive use or traumatic injury. Elbow pain can be caused by wrist pain and neck dysfunction can also cause dysfunction into the shoulder and wrist area. If the cause is from the neck/cervical area then the overall posture is important to assess. Also trigger points in and around the shoulder area can cause numbing sensations and pain in the arm, wrist and hand areas.
How does Paths in Healing address hand, wrist, arm and elbow pain?
A thorough detailed assessment is done on the injury and posture is charted out. We work the site of pain however we look for other sources that may be causing the problem. Proper soft tissue release is done on areas that require such work. Correct stretching and strengthening exercises are given for homework to continue the progress of work between sessions. We approach the dysfunctions mentioned above as being unique and take on the assumption that no two injuries are the same. The client is taught proper movement patterns for their upper extremities.
